Established in 1949. The Society exists to further the skills, interests and enjoyment of all types of photography. It provides a forum for the exchange of information and ideas on photographic techniques, and encourages an appreciation of the artistic and creative side of photography. Members of all levels of achievement are encouraged to show and discuss their work. No photographic knowledge required - just enjoy viewing photographs and the night out!

Resizing your images with the free XnView

This tutorial details how you can use the free XnView to resize your digital images for the webpage galleries or competitions.

Download XnView from their webpage and follow their instructions to install it.

  • Open you image in XnView.
  • Choose "Resize" from the image menu.
  • In the Screensize section enter your requires size (in this case 1024x768 for digital competition enteries). Make sure your Resample is set as Hanning shown below and then click OK.
  • Choose "Save as" from the file menu.
  • Save you image as a JPEG as shown below.
