November 15th 2004: Results of Sport & Photo-Journalism Competition

Ripon City Photographic Society recently held their Sport and
Photojournalism Competition, which was a very enjoyable evening judged
by Grahame Gage from Leeds. From the slides and prints awarded 1st
place only one can be chosen as Best Overall, and a trophy is then
awarded at the Annual Dinner in April 2005. The Best Overall entry was
judged to be a print by Michael Fryatt entitled Michael 'The Blade'

attender at The Croft Circuit, Michael Fryatt certainly worked hard to
achieve the winning photograph shown. Other results were as follows:

September 2004 : Photography Exhibition

September 2004 : Photography Exhibition

On the 4th and 5th of September 2004 members from Ripon City Photographic Society put on a fantastic display of photographs at the annual exhibition at the Town Hall featuring many diverse subjects and techniques.

We had visitors from all over the UK and everyone seemed to like the photographs. As well as having a fabulous selection of prints from lots of different members we had a slide show running.

Taking place every year in early September we aim to show the public a selection of our work from the previous year as well as new images which with the help of digital technology may have been created only a matter of hours previous to the exhibition. We always have a great selection of images on show and 2004 was no exception! Images included, landscapes, portraits, motorsport, still life etc, taken with black & white film, colour film as well as digital formats.

A great weekend!

Following temporary relocation the club suffered a loss of membership and is keen to reverse this in 2004/2005 when the new season starts at 7.30 pm on Monday 20 September 2004 at Hugh Ripley Hall. Among the highlights of the new season will be a lecture by John Gardner (a semi-professional wildlife photographer specialising in high quality nature and landscape photographs) on Monday 7 February 2005 at 7.00 pm for 7.30 pm (a charge will be made for this event). More details will be available on the website in due course of this and the rest of the 2004/2005 programme at http://www.riponphotographic.co.uk. The society is also hoping to hold an Annual Exhibition in Ripon Town Hall on 4/5 September 2004 and is currently trying to raise funding to do this.
