Established in 1949. The Society exists to further the skills, interests and enjoyment of all types of photography. It provides a forum for the exchange of information and ideas on photographic techniques, and encourages an appreciation of the artistic and creative side of photography. Members of all levels of achievement are encouraged to show and discuss their work. No photographic knowledge required - just enjoy viewing photographs and the night out!

Reminder: 2008, Third Sharow Open Photographic Competition (for charity)


We have received details (see below) on the next Sharow Photographic competition.

Details of the Third Sharow Photographic Competition in April 2008 can now be found on their website: www.sharowphotocomp.co.uk
This next year's competition is in support of Marie Curie Cancer Care.

An information poster is also available to print out from the website, for notice boards, as a handout or to email to your membership.

Why not enter now? no need to wait! - we are ready to receive your entries any time at your convenience.

They are challenging categories for this next year's event.

Special Category (10-19 years old) for school/students (or maybe grandchildren!)

We have a Photoshop pratical night on Monday 12th November.
David will be showing us how to create your own Christmas Cards/Calendars using your digital images.

Bring your own laptop if you have one to work along with the tutorial.

Meeting 5th November 2007

At the meeting last night, Patrick Couzens judged entries for the Creative Competition,20 print and 19 digital entries gave him a sore head but he bravely tackled the job well.

Picture shows our overall Champion for the night, Kathryn Carter being congratulated by The Judge.. very well done Kathryn, looking on with glee are the other winners, Alastair Montgomery, Paul Bullock, and our esteemed President Michael Voice.
Patrick lives in York, has been a photographer since short pants days. he combines this talent with his enthusiasm for Amateur Theatricals. He not only takes the advertising stills and portraits but also actualy acts on the stage...good practice for Judging....
